Verizon Wireless retailer collects recycled phones to provide medical services to families in need

Many of the medical and dental supplies we have to use are quite expensive and through this donation we are able to serve a greater percentage of our uninsured population who most need this type of medical care.

Cellular Sales, the nation’s largest Verizon premium wireless retailer, recently announced a project to raise funds for a Texas nonprofit by collecting recycled cellphones. The funds raised from Cellular Sales’ recycling drive will help to offset the cost of medical services and supplies for patients of the Hope Clinic.

“Cellular Sales is excited to support the efforts of the Hope Clinic with this cellphone collection initiative,” said Tony Crouch, sales leader for the North Texas region of Cellular Sales. “The Hope Clinic plays an important role in our community and we wanted to be part of the good work it is doing.”

The Hope Clinic is a primary care medical facility in Ellis County providing uninsured and underserved patients with medical, dental, nutritional, and mental health care at a reduced cost. Founded in 2000 by a group of doctors who recognized the need for a reduced cost medical facility, the Hope Clinic annually serves more than 6,000 community members in need.

Cellular Sales was founded in Knoxville, Tenn. 18 years ago and has, for the past four years, been named by Inc. Magazine one of the nation’s fasted growing privately-owned retailers. In 2011, Cellular Sales ranked among the nation’s 75 fastest growing retailers in the Inc. 5000. The company currently operates nearly 500 stores across the U.S.

According to Barbara Clark, outreach and event coordinator for the Hope Clinic, the wireless retailer’s donation will directly benefit the men, women and children who seek medical and dental care through the organization.

“Every dollar donated helps to offset costs of both services and supplies,” she said. “Many of the medical and dental supplies we have to use are quite expensive and through this donation we are able to serve a greater percentage of our uninsured population who most need this type of medical care.”
