In the five years to 2016, total revenue of the Plastic Board, Pipe and Shaped Product Manufacturing industry in China will increase at an annualized rate of 15.8% to $123.0 billion, according to IBISWorld, America’s largest publisher of industry research. Despite the negative effects of the global financial crisis on China's economy, the Plastic Board, Pipe and Shaped Products Manufacturing industry in China has maintained strong growth each year over the past five years. Municipal construction and other public infrastructure projects have ensured long-term demand for plastic materials, especially plastic pipes, according to IBISWorld’s newly updated Plastic Board, Pipe and Shaped Products Manufacturing industry report. A prosperous real estate industry, increased development in China's western regions and the reconstruction of the earthquake-stricken areas in Sichuan Province also boosted demand for plastic materials over the past five years.

In 2011, the Chinese Government accelerated the construction of indemnificatory housing projects, with new starts of about 10 million units during the year. Also, the State Council declared that construction of water-conservation infrastructure will be accelerated with increasing investment from 2011 to 2020. This is expected to stimulate demand for various industry products during 2011 and into the future. Industry revenue is expected to increase by 25% to $59.16 billion at the end of 2011.

The industry's long-term prospects are promising as the urbanization rate in China is still quite low. Strong demand for plastic materials from urban public infrastructure projects and the real estate sector is expected to continue for many years. The government has been encouraging use of plastic construction materials in water supply systems, drainage systems, gas delivery systems and power network systems, while setting the goal to increase the market share of plastic pipes to over 60% in future years.
