A celebration of upscale Korean barbecue restaurant that will last long after the holiday season, Kristalbelli restaurant will debut healthy Korean cuisine in Midtown with its soft opening on Dec. 2011. Kristalbelli is located at 8 West 36th St.

The new Korean barbecue restaurant features custom grills made of 99.9 percent crystal that are set in the center of each table; the crystal grills use infrared heat, which is recognized for both its health and taste benefits. In addition, Kristalbelli‘s special downdraft system removes the traditional smoky barbecue smell, lending itself to a more upscale barbecue experience.

Featuring Korean barbecue including rib eye, Kobe and Wagyu beef, pork, duck, seafood and vegetarian options, Kristalbelli will serve seasonal, organic food from local farmers’ markets. The lounge menu offers a variety of small dishes, including beef brisket over rice, mung bean pancakes and other Korean food favorites. Both menus include wine pairings from the extensive wine list and unique Korean imported liquors.

“Our unique crystal grills at Kristalbelli ensure juicy, delicious Korean barbecue that is cooked two to three times faster than traditional methods; it both tastes better and is better for you,” said owner Jin Young Park, a Korean entertainment mogul, who plans to expand to five additional international locations in 2012. “We are thrilled to bring upscale Korean barbecue to New York diners.”

David Shim, whose pedigree includes Gramercy Tavern, L’Atelier de Joul Robuchon, the Four Seasons Hotel and the Culinary Institute of America, was hired as Kristalbelli chef.
