We appreciate Aptara's flexible, creative approach to meeting our production and fee-collection needs.
Falls Church, VA (PRWEB) November 30, 2011
Aptara, a pioneer in digital publishing solutions, announced today that it has been selected by ASCB, the American Society for Cell Biology, to provide full-service journal content production for both of its titles, totaling 5,800 pages annually. Aptara’s end-to-end services will include pre-press and editorial production and a custom portal for article reprint sales and collection of author charges.
Aptara will manage every aspect of ASCB’s journal production, beginning with the receipt of raw, peer-reviewed content, to coordinating copyediting, proofreading, typesetting, page layout, and the final deliverable—XML, PDFs, and images—which Aptara will post at the journals’ host site. An ASCB private-labeled, ecommerce web portal, developed by Aptara, will handle reprint orders and page charge collection services. ASCB journals are online only but are augmented with an end-of-the-year printing of compilations of selected articles, which Aptara will coordinate.
“Our end-to-end service model provides the greatest operational and business benefits,” said Dev Ganesan, President and CEO of Aptara, “from reduced error rates, rework and cycle times, to overall cost savings and getting content into member’s hands sooner. And employing full-service production for print and online delivery, as ASCB is doing, extends the benefits even further.”
“We are confident that Aptara will continue to provide high-quality copyediting, typesetting, and ecommerce services at a significant cost savings,” said W. Mark Leader, ASCB Publications Director, “and appreciate their flexible, creative approach to meeting our production and fee-collection needs.”
