Brookline College Launches the First Masters Degree -- an Online Master of Science in Nursing Education

A Master’s degree in nursing education can open up new opportunities for nurses who wish to move beyond the bedside and help develop the next generation of nurses,” said Dr. Carol S. Kleinman, Vice President of Nursing Education, Brookline College.

Brookline College, a multi-campus higher education company headquartered in Phoenix, announced it has received final approval for the first Master’s program in the college’s history.

The 36-credit online Master of Science in Nursing Education program prepares individuals for entry-level careers as nurse educators in academic or health care settings. The program can be completed in approximately 12 months.

“Expanding our institution to include Master’s degree offerings is a major milestone for Brookline College,” said Ed Beauchamp, President of Brookline College. “While this is the first Master’s program offering in the history of the college, we are already considering additional Master’s degrees in other curriculum areas in 2012 and beyond.”

“We are pleased to build upon our current baccalaureate nursing programs and expand the options available to students who want to pursue a career in nursing education,” said Dr. Carol S. Kleinman, Vice President of Nursing Education at Brookline College. “Nursing educators are critical to meet the demand for nursing programs around the country. In fact, many schools cite the lack of faculty as a reason their schools cannot accommodate more students, which results in long waiting lists for some programs.”

“A Master’s degree in nursing education can open up new opportunities for nurses who wish to move beyond the bedside and join the ranks of those who develop the next generation of nurses,” said Dr. Kleinman.

This MSN program complements Brookline College’s existing Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs that started this year. The College’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing for Baccalaureate Degree Graduates program is offered at its Phoenix and Albuquerque, NM campuses, while its Bachelor of Science in Nursing program its Phoenix campus.
