Second Annual Gala Raises Community Support for Youth Entrepreneurs

The BUILD Gala: Igniting Futures is one of the year's best nonprofit charity events. Funds raised at the event will support BUILD youth entrepreneurs and will celebrate the innovative spirit of at-risk students. Hundreds will attend this year;s event on March 23 at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA.

BUILD is proud to announce its second annual gala, Igniting Futures, will be held March 23 at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, Calif.

The BUILD Gala celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit of students in the BUILD program. The fundraising event brings together BUILD's students, staff, community leaders and Silicon Valley's most respected entrepreneurs and tech professionals.

This year the BUILD Gala will celebrate the organization's achievements and will honor Reid Hoffman, co- founder of LinkedIn & partner at Greylock Partners, with the 2012 Pitch Prize for Entrepreneurship, named for BUILD's founding supporter Franklin "Pitch" Johnson.

"Over the years, we have invested in many amazing start-ups and I believe BUILD has been one of our finest. I am very proud that we were seed funders, and we continue to support BUILD’s work in education," Johnson said after the 2011 Gala.

The inaugural, sold-out event raised close to $700,000. In attendance were MC Hammer, Ashton Kutcher (via satellite) and Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter and CEO of Square.

Dorsey will reprise his appearance at the 2012 Gala now that he has joined the BUILD National Board of Directors.

Celebrity and special entrepreneurial guests will be announced in the weeks leading up to the gala.
