Hundreds of brides-to-be are expected at the Grab the Gown sale in Modesto on Sunday, January 29th, 2012, all looking to snag the wedding gown of their dreams at a bargain price. At 11:00am the brides and their helpers will burst through the doors of the International Wedding Festival at the Modesto Centre Plaza in Modesto, California to wade through over 800 gowns, sizes 2 to 26. So deep are the discounts, many customers will literally pounce on dresses priced from $50-$600 that might otherwise cost as much as $6,000. This year, Grab the Gown ( is partnering with International Wedding Festival to help brides plan the perfect wedding day.

“Finding the perfect dress is an exciting moment for brides to be; finding the perfect dress at a great price is even better. We work with some amazing designers, so having the ability to bring these gowns directly to the hands of brides at these prices brings us great joy. Pairing the Grab the Gown event with the International Wedding Festival, the most successful bridal show in the area is 'a perfect marriage,'" said Kimberly Vaughan, CEO of California Bridal Eventz, LLC.

The 800+ gowns at this event have been provided by Bay Area wedding dress designers and local bridal shop owners and include new, never before worn gowns, as well as gowns that have been worn in photo shoots, were display dresses, sample dresses, were rented for an event, or are gowns that need minor repair or embellishments.

It is anticipated that the gown racks will be stripped bare in a matter of hours. Brides are instructed on the event website to form a shopping team to successfully find the perfect gown before it is gone. Brides will strip down in the aisles to leotards, bike shorts, sports bras or even underwear to try on gowns right there on the sales floor.

If it doesn’t quite fit or if it needs a little pressing, the experts from Bella Bridal & Soiree by Sophia will be there to work their magic, and the bride can still come out ahead. But what happens if a petite bride snagged a size 14 dress in pink chiffon when she really wanted a size 4 in white satin? That’s when brides begin bartering with each other to find the right dress for their dream day.
