New Book Offers Humorous Take on Personalities

"When considering a house pet, remember, dogs think of you as family and cats think of you as staff." Ron Dentinger

I'm a Dog, You're a Cat - Love Lessons from Our Furry Friends (http://www.imadogyoureacat.com) - is a fun and whimsical, beautifully illustrated book that sheds some light on understanding our mates written by Houstonian Marla Press. This cleverly illustrated work is filled with brilliant and amusing depictions of animals by New Orleans famed cartoonist, Jim Tweedy and are integrated bountifully throughout the entire book.

This book is not a serious authority on the true science of relationships like Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus or other books of that kind. To the contrary, it is a collection of stories from couples based on their experiences that define their personalities in one of two groups: cats or dogs. It provides a segue for a discussion of individual differences between two people in a relationship and compares their behavior to that of a cat or a dog while acknowledging that compatibility can still exist in spite of the differences as long as we understand the behavior and put it in context.

Marla came across this interesting quote from Ron Dentinger several years ago that reads, "When considering a house pet, remember, dogs think of you as family and cats think of you as staff." Marla is convinced that at our very core, men and women are hard wired to be more like a feline or more like a canine regardless of gender and that our personality likenesses to our furry friends determines in part how we act and react in our relationships. It's a funny revelation that offers insight that allows us to communicate more effectively with the special people in our lives and certainly a great way to break the ice, whether on a first date, at a singles party or family gathering as it makes for lively conversation. Marla Press has been in the financial services industry since 1992 representing various money management firms. Born and raised in Rock Island, IL, she holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas-Austin. Press lives in Houston, Texas with her two rescue dogs, Riley and Bella. She identifies herself as having canine characteristics. A portion of each book sold is donated to pet charities.
