Hayward, CA (PRWEB) December 01, 2011
ConXtech is pleased to announce a new member of its executive team, Chris Keyack. Mr. Keyack is Vice President responsible for ConXCAD development and deployment. He’s responsible for further development and commercialization of ConXtech’s software tools as well as integration ensuring compatibility of ConXCAD with other leading BIM and structural analysis software products. Mr. Keyack joins ConXtech from Tekla Corporation, the creators of the BIM software Tekla Structures where he most recently served as steel product manager and software solutions team manager for North America. In addition to his role at Tekla, Mr. Keyack has a steel industry background, previously working for a large fabricator with plants nationwide as a lead detailer and project manager.
Mr. Keyack is innovative and well known in the design and construction industry for his technical expertise, hands on approach, and willingness to share his depth of knowledge through a growing series of self produced YouTube videos. “Chris was the obvious choice for this key role at ConXtech,” states Robert J. Simmons, CTO and CEO. “Over several years we have had the opportunity to benefit from his expertise and out-of-the-box thinking as he has supported our development of ConX libraries that integrate into the Tekla Structures software platform.”
ConXCAD is a customized toolkit of software add-ons for industry standard BIM (Building Information Modeling) software applications making it easier for design and construction professionals to integrate ConXtech’s structural steel connection technologies into their projects. Further development and deployment of this simple software toolkit will empower design professionals to rapidly and accurately configure ConX™ structures with a pre-defined digital library of ConX components and other standard structural elements such as beams and columns. Design professionals can establish an anatomically and dimensionally accurate structural “chassis” model at the earliest conceptual design stage. That model will continue to serve as the center of collaborative design and real-time cost analysis and will ultimately feed data to CNC manufacturing and fabrication equipment.
“For various reasons, designing and building structures is extremely complex. Nearly every multi-story building or industrial structure such as a pipe rack or processing facility is completely unique all the way down to how beams and columns connect. Because the ConX System utilizes just a small set of robust connections, ConXtech is in a unique position to simplify structures in a way that every project participant can become more efficient and collaborate much earlier in the design stage,” states Mr. Keyack. By expanding functionality of ConXCAD and putting simple cross-platform compatible software tools, which include a library of standard ConX components, in the hands of design professionals, the industry can more rapidly migrate to 3D Building Information Modeling where collaboration among all stakeholders in a project can be achieved from the earliest concept forward.
About ConXtech Inc.
ConXtech Inc. is a building technology company based in Hayward, CA. The company has developed ConX®, a revolutionary structural steel Chassis Based Modular™ building system which enables rapid delivery of robust, cost efficient and sustainable structures. The company sells a standard set of manufactured Lower and Locking™ connectors and building components enabling the mass-customization of a precise structural building frame or chassis to which other factory manufactured building modules can be added. When assembled into multi-bay, multi-story structures, the patented connection technology delivers a brace-free grid of Special Moment Frames (SMF) ideal for commercial, healthcare, military, high-density residential, data center, and educational applications as well as industrial structures for the oil and gas industry.
The ConX System reduces time and overall project costs when compared to conventional structures and brings a systemic change to the building process, enabling owners and developers to predictably build Faster, Better, Safer and Greener™. ConX SMF connections meet special detailing requirements for the most demanding seismic loading as well as the current U.S. Department of Defense anti-terrorism standards for blast and progressive collapse resistance. The ConXL™ SMF connection is approved by the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) for use in California hospital facilities. It has also been approved by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and published in AISC 358-10 Prequalified Connections for Special and Intermediate Steel Moment Frames for Seismic Applications for use by structural engineers worldwide.
ConXtech licenses its fabrication technologies, methods and processes to a growing network of certified fabricators and erectors. For more information about ConXtech, visit http://www.ConXtech.com.
