Hospital Imaging Department Renews Contract with Media Logic for Key Influencer Strategies and Social Stream Marketing

Media Logic, a nationally recognized agency specializing in marketing for a social world, renewed its contract with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Center to provide daily, active management of social marketing channels for the Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging. The scope of work includes management of the center’s blog, Facebook page and Twitter profile. The original contract has been in place since December 2010.

Recent research found that a hospital’s social media plan strongly affects patients’ desire to be treated at the facility. In the study, 57 percent said a social media connection with a hospital was likely to have a strong impact on their decision to seek treatment at that hospital. Eighty-one percent believe if a hospital has a strong social media presence they are likely to be more cutting-edge, creating a halo effect across clinical functions (source: http://bit.ly/ioqNzw).

“Consumers — and in this case, patients— no longer want to be marketed to,” said Ronald Ladouceur, Media Logic executive vice president. “People want to interact through blogging and social platforms with their health organizations and consume the information in a more conversational manner. Forward-thinking hospitals like UCSF recognize this trend and are devoting the resources necessary to reach their patients the way they prefer to communicate.”

Many healthcare providers utilize social media channels, including Facebook and Twitter.
However, UCSF is one of only a small number of radiology programs in the country that actively taps into the power of social networking to connect with patients and professional community.
