San Diego, CA (PRWEB) December 01, 2011
On Saturday, December 3, 2011, RollinSD.com, San Diego’s hottest new Website is holding their Second Annual Rollin For A Cure. The purpose is to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer and breast cancer; benevolence during the holiday season.
John Lancia, RollinSD founder and owner started this event last year and it was just for Prostate cancer. All the men grew mustaches for the event and the women put on fake mustaches in honoring the month of Movember. This year he has added a twist. Instead of just raising money for prostate cancer they are also raising money for breast cancer. He said, "We added the breast cancer twist this year because everyone does their annual breast cancer walks in October and I feel these are both very serious matters and that bringing awareness to them once a year just isn’t enough. I would like to make this a quarterly event and bring awareness to Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer all year long. The people who have these terrible diseases have to live with them daily so I feel a quarterly event is the least we can do. We can raise money and help to bring awareness all year long."
According to the American Cancer Society, about 1 man in 6 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. A little over 1.8 million men in the United States are survivors of prostate cancer.
Cancer.org reports that in 2011, an estimated 230,480 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed among women. About 2,140 cases of breast cancer are expected to occur among men, accounting for about 1% of all breast cancers. In addition, approximately 450 men will die from breast cancer.
Rollin For A Cure, will be a day of giving back to help save lives while having fun. The day will start at Patrick’s Pub in Poway. They are opening at 1:30 just for RollinSD. Whatever is spent at the bar that day 50% will be donated back to the cause. Attendees get picked up from Patrick’s at 3:30 by We Party Naked Limo Buses taking a 45 person limo bus to The Knotty Barrel down in the East Village. More time to eat, drink and have a great time there to 8:30PM and then back to Patrick’s. 15% of what is spent at The Knotty Barrel will be donated back to the cause.
The cost to take the bus (shirt included) is $40 a person and beers will be provided on the bus. Special shirts are available for purchase $20 to wear for the ladies and men participating. Women will get the breast cancer shirt and men the Save a Cowboy shirt. All people who donate will also receive a VIP Knotty Barrel card entitling them to 20% off their bill starting Dec 4th, 2011 to Dec 31, 2012.
