“Bleat makes it so simple to get your voice heard on the social networks. It’s easy to use, yet more effective than standard text-based status updates." Chris Sykes, CEO, Volume

Don’t Tweet it, Bleat it! Bleat is the latest mobile application from Volume and it makes it easy to post status updates to favourite social networks. With the launch of the new application, users can post status updates simply by talking to their mobile; there’s no typing involved.
Updating one’s status on Twitter and Facebook has always suffered from one problem: it’s completely text-based. As a result, a whole range of emoticons have been produced to try and portray emotions, from sarcasm to humour. But with the introduction of Bleat, emoticons might start to become a thing of the past. Audio-based status updates provide a level of subtlety that text can’t provide, from the roar of a crowd at a football match, to the heartfelt emotion of a personal message to a friend. By allowing users to share these messages, Bleat takes status updates to the next level. The great thing about this is that other users don’t need to have Bleat installed to listen to the messages; they play directly through Facebook’s in-built audio player.
Bleat also breaks down another traditional barrier to status updates – the 140-character limit on tweets. There’s no need to start using text-speak or cutting out words; users can say as much as they like within Bleat’s generous twenty-second recording window.
For those who don’t like to hear the sound of their own voice, Bleat can convert text into audio posts. It’s an innovative and easy-to-use approach that ensures that it can be used by everyone. And if even thinking up a message is too much, the Bleat library (containing common seasonal messages) rounds out the application. Users simply select the Bleat they want and press the Share button.
As Volume’s Chief Executive, Chris Sykes says:
“Bleat makes it so simple to get your voice heard on the social networks. It’s easy to use, yet more effective than standard text-based status updates. It also opens up the opportunities for businesses to deliver brand messaging in a highly engaging audio format.”
Bleat – into the future
Volume’s Benoit Alvarez – the man behind the development of the application – says that there is plenty more to come.
“We’ve got lots of plans for Bleat: new voice packs for the text-to-Bleat converter, seasonal Bleat packs and the addition of many more social networks. It’s an innovative application to be working on.”
