Because this is what Christmas is all out. Every child should wake up on Christmas morning to the surprise that Santa did visit and he brought them something special ~ just for them!
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) December 03, 2011
Ahwatukee Foothills ~ Last holiday season Sun Devil Auto an Arizona-grown, family-owned and operated auto-repair company offering complete repair in the automotive aftermarket industry delivered several dozen bicycles and many more hundreds of toys for needy valley children to the Arizona US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. Again, with the help of local retailer JC Penney, the Arizona Toyota Truck Off-road Assocation and Crawlin’ Concepts, this year they expect to deliver even more through additional in-store special events and cross-promotion focusing on their efforts.
This week collection bins were placed inside each of the 20 Sun Devil Auto valley locations. The team expects to collect much more for the charity and will promote this campaign through mid-December. Last year’s drive raised about 1700 toys, accounting for more than 29% of the total number of toys collected by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program ~ East Valley.
When asked why she got involved, Sun Devil Auto Toys for Tots drive coordinator Deb Hughes replied, “Because this is what Christmas is all out. Every child should wake up on Christmas morning to the surprise that Santa did visit and he brought them something special ~ just for them!”
Throughout the year families ~ churches make a list. They ask for certain things that their children need (and want). The US Marine Corps Reserve collects all kinds of toys and delivers them to these churches before the Christmas holiday. Sun Devil Auto was proud to be part of this effort and has been and will continue to be a supporter of various children’s charities throughout the year.
Last year the company hosted a Pavement Run in partnership with JC Penney, Arizona Toyota Truck Off-road Association, and Crawlin’ Concepts. They plan to do the same this year on Saturday, December 10 from 10a-2p at Sun Devil Auto’s Ahwatukee store located at 5104 E. Ray Road, in Phoenix. Folks are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy and enjoy FREE BBQ and soft drinks. Students from Gilbert-based Talent Team will perform holiday carols and Santa is even expected to visit!
If you’d like to participate, visit our friends at nearby JC Penney (same parking lot, 5050 E Ray Rd, Ahwatukee Foothills * phone: (480) 785-5245) and pick up a toy or two for this year’s drive!
Over the 60 years of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, Marines have distributed more than 332.5 million toys to 158.7 million needy children. This charitable endeavor has made U.S. Marines the unchallenged leaders in looking after needy children at Christmas. Over its 15 year life span, the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation has supplemented local toy collections with more than 55.5 million toys that are valued at more than $284 million; plus has provided promotion and support materials valued at over $3.2 million.
