New children’s book publisher creates fantasy and fun about careers, economics and finances.

As researchers and educators advocate financial literacy training at earlier ages, Bizzy Whiz, LLC., brings business and finance, with a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) twist, into the lives of preschool and elementary-aged children. The publishing company creates a bridge between children and the business world by publishing creative books and hands-on, experiential lesson plans.

The company’s first book, A Job for Pibot, introduces preschoolers and early elementary children to the concept that the people in their communities work to earn money. Lesson plans such as Bizzy Whiz and the Three Pigs after the Earthquake place children in STEM careers, solving real-world problems.

“Children don’t see much of the adult work being done around them while they are in school,” Wendy Boortz, founder and president of Bizzy Whiz said. “But kids love to talk about money, and they want to know how to make it. Think about how much farther ahead they will be if they grow up with this knowledge.”

“When I worked as a Junior Achievement consultant, I couldn’t find literature in the libraries to go with the lessons,” Boortz continued. “I started writing books. As a Destination Imagination Team Manager and Girl Scout Leader, I learned not to give kids answers. Give them problems, and let them solve them. That’s how they will develop the self-confidence to solve the problems we haven’t solved yet.”

Bizzy Whiz seeks corporate and industry partners interested in sponsoring books and lesson plans about their company and industry. To find out how you can reach and teach children about your business or industry visit today.
