Bowie & Jensen, a leading business law firm, is pleased to announce that Larry Guffey, a registered patent attorney, has joined the firm’s Towson, Maryland and Manhattan, New York offices. Mr. Guffey’s experience spans a broad range of patent, transactional and advisory assignments, including, both U.S. and foreign research universities, manufacturing, service and e-Commerce companies, and a wide variety of individual inventors, artists and entrepreneurs.

Mr. Guffey has an abundant knowledge of the complex and overlapping patchwork of patent and IP laws. His uniquely broad background provides him with insight into the technical, business, legal, and strategic challenges facing technology-oriented entrepreneurs.

Mr. Guffey has a wealth of patent expertise and an in-depth knowledge of business that allows clients to grow by protecting and managing, in the most cost-effective manner, their intellectual property portfolios, concentrating primarily on patent matters, but also including trade secret, trademark and copyright matters. His particular areas of technical expertise are in the fields of fluid dynamics and mechanical engineering as applied to a broad range of manufacturing technologies.

Part of Mr. Guffey’s new responsibilities with Bowie & Jensen will include being the principal attorney staffing the firm’s New York office, and he will commute between Baltimore and New York as he continues to serve his own and Bowie & Jensen’s current and future, while also seeking to help Bowie & Jensen build the size of their practice in New York.

Mr. Guffey received his J.D., from the University of Houston (1995), completed Ph.D. Studies (Geophysical Fluid Dynamics; completed all but the dissertation), Johns Hopkins University (1976), has an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University (1974), and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, from the University of Virginia (1969).
