I choose to be appointed by Foremost because I always take good care of my customers and so does Foremost.

Salt flat racer, motorcycle dealership owner, Foremost® insurance agent, record holder, dream maker…they all define Foremost Insurance Group sponsored Leslie Porterfield, the Fastest Women in the World.

Porterfield holds the Guinness World Record as the Fastest Woman in the World on a Motorcycle and also owns and manages her busy Dallas, Texas dealership, High Five Cycles.

“I’m an extremely motivated individual. I am passionate about my trade and my racing because it has opened many doors for me. It has taken a lot of hard work to get where I am, and continues to be hard work to maintain and go further,” says Porterfield. “I feel very fortunate because I am able to do what I love.”

Porterfield started racing when she was 16 and a neighbor had an old bike for sale for $200. She had never ridden one, but bought it, taught herself to ride and never looked back. She said a friend convinced her to attend a road racing school and she was “instantly hooked!”

“I have always wanted to go faster on my bikes and when I heard of the Bonneville Salt Flats it sounded like a perfect fit. I set a goal to go over 200mph, and then it snowballed into multiple records,” says Porterfield. “What I enjoy about Land Speed Racing is that there are no gender classes. All the records I have broken were previously held by men!”

Bonneville Salt Flats is a naturally salty terrain where land speed racers of all makes and models come to break records and satisfy dreams. Porterfield is best known for her Fastest Women in the World on two wheels record, recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records at 232.5 mph. She races different models of Honda bikes for most of her races.

“Bonneville is amazing! There are many factors to racing on salt, one being that the traction is a constant difficulty and the surface changes so much,” says Porterfield. “I also spend a lot of time in the off-season cleaning up my bike from the salt. The bikes have to be torn down to bare frame and cleaned thoroughly. The salt is so corrosive!”

When Porterfield isn’t racing on salt at speeds above 200mph, she can be found at her dealership, High Five C-cyles in Dallas, Texas. She owns and manages the full service dealership and is also able to offer her customers Foremost Insurance.

“I choose to be appointed by Foremost because I always take good care of my customers and so does Foremost,” says Porterfield. “Foremost is an excellent company with great coverage for motorcycles, and my customers are happy to have a Foremost agent on site to take care of their insurance needs!”

Porterfield is looking ahead to going even faster next season, but in the meantime will be touring to conferences and International Motorcycle Shows with her dog Freeway, a dog she found on the side of the road almost six years ago. She also rescues other dogs and animals in her “spare” time.

“I learned many things the hard way when I was younger. Many people didn’t think I would be successful, but I followed my heart,” says Porterfield. “I have an accounting background, if you can believe that, but I think this is a great industry and I am following my dreams. I tell anyone that asks to ‘go for it’!”
