Gourmet Rooster, a Reno-based specialty foods company, has added holiday gift baskets to its lineup of sauces and spreads. Themed baskets include the Grillmaster, featuring a selection of four barbecue sauces and tools for the griller; Pinkies up for Teatime, with four fruit spreads, cookies, honey and teas; Rise and Shine, including three fruit spreads, gourmet coffee and pancake mix; the Wine Accompaniment, with two savory spreads, water crackers, salami, gourmet cheese and chocolates; and the Gourmet Rooster Sampler, with a choice of barbecue sauces, fruit spreads or savory spreads. Prices for the baskets are affordable, ranging from $16.95 to $49.95, plus shipping.

“Gourmet Rooster holiday baskets were designed to make holiday giving easy and to inspire creativity and fun for everyone,” said company founder Courtney Barnes.

Barnes is the mother of two small children who always has loved to cook and experiment with different flavors to add pizzazz to all kinds of dishes. With the encouragement of friends and families who raved about her homemade gifts of jams, spreads and barbecue sauces, she founded Gourmet Rooster specialty foods in 2010 from her Reno kitchen.

Barnes turned her lifelong love of cooking into a challenge once she had children: how to create simple yet delicious family-friendly dishes from basic ingredients. She expanded upon her repertoire of sauces and spreads that already were a hit with her own family and friends. She named the company after the collection of roosters in her country-style kitchen and shepherded her company through the test kitchen, production, labeling and distribution processes. Barnes now is on the brink of seeing her products introduced to major retail outlets.

Gourmet Rooster’s specialty foods are made from Barnes’ own recipes with an emphasis on maintaining the highest quality and taste. The products are aimed at offering something interesting and delicious for cooks of all levels, from the beginner cook to the gourmet chef.

Gourmet Rooster sauces, spreads and holiday baskets are available at numerous specialty stores in Nevada, California, Minnesota and Wisconsin and online at http://www.gourmetrooster.com. Barnes’ recipes and easy cooking tips may be found on the company’s Facebook site and on her blog at http://www.gourmetrooster.blogspot.com.
