Arlington, VA (PRWEB) December 03, 2011
Federal Agencies are facing significant budgetary cuts and now, more than ever, they are forced to do more with less. To achieve current objectives, the Government has instituted policies and procedures to provide project management transparency that ensures tax payer dollars are not wasted on poorly planned or poorly executed Federal IT Projects. The Office of Management and Budget implemented the Federal IT Dashboard (http://www.itdashboard.gov/) in 2009. The Dashboard is a public representation of the project performance for all Federal Agency IT Investments. Currently 797 of these IT Investments, representing a total 2011 Fiscal Year investment of over $40B, are considered to be Major IT Investments.
Based on a recent review of the Federal IT Dashboard:
- 261 IT Investments, or 1/3 of all Federal Agency Major IT Investments require attention or are considered to be of significant concern
- 261 IT Investments represent $18B in funding, 44% of the FY 2011 budget for all Major IT Investments is at risk
- Approximately 80% to 90% of these funds have been obligated for Government Contractor support of these Major IT Investments
“KMSG is proud to introduce this solution”, said Dave Scott, Managing Director of KM Systems Group, “If Federal Agency Executives want to continue to advance their Agencies mission objectives and enable improved services for all Citizens; they must implement a solution which will provide better visibility into contractor project performance. In addition, this new system will enable an early warning system for potential project performance issues while there is still time to apply corrective actions”.
KMSG leveraged their company expertise in the creation of this new solution which is a building block approach to address three significant Federal Agency program management challenges: 1) Establishing a program baseline for cost, schedule, and technical performance, 2) validation of contractor provided project performance data, and 3) project performance analysis.
This solution is presented in detail in a recently published white paper and will also be presented on a Webinar on December 7th, at 1pm EST. The webinar will be presented by Mr. Mark Troisi, a senior manager at KMSG with over twenty years of project controls experience with both the Federal Government and Government Contractors. If you would like a copy of the white paper, or are interested in attending the upcoming webinar, please visit our website or call 703-682-6852.
