Thousands of Los Angeles’ homeless are fed and supplied tarps by Tarps Plus and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

The city of Los Angeles held their annual Thanksgiving drive for the homeless where thousands gathered in downtown Los Angeles for food and tarps. Volunteers and celebrities handed out food, blankets and tarps to the city’s homeless out in from of the L.A. Mission. Blankets and tarps were also handed out by the thousands and the leading U.S tarps supplier Tarps Plus was on hand. Thousands of homeless walked down long lines of installations supplying the goods and services.

Celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Zoe Saldana handed out food and took pictures for the event. Kirk Douglas was also on hand to show his support. The event has shown growth in size since last year’s drive but continues to receive donations by companies willing to help.

The founder and CEO of Tarps Plus, Michael Stein stated, “We have supplied several thousand tarps to homeless shelters this year. The demand for tarps and supplies seems higher now than it has ever been.”

Tarps Plus plans more tarp drives in January. Blankets and tarps are an essential tool for the homeless during the winter months and hypothermia becomes a major factor with people living on the streets.

Tarps Plus is a division of Abadak Inc. The company specializes in outdoor and emergency products. Abadak plans to expand in philanthropic effort in 2012 with more products like cots, blankets and custom tarp tents made specifically for people living on the streets or outside of homes for emergency use. The outdoor company also plans to team up with other companies to help Americas homeless.
