“FuelQuest Fuel Center gives me access to the technology, people, and processes that allow me to achieve both goals with its strategic sourcing and just-in-time replenishment capabilities." says Jimmy Neutze, owner of Mr. Cartender.

FuelQuest Inc., the leading on-demand software and services company for the global downstream energy industry, announced today a new five-year contract with Mr. Cartender, Inc., a convenience store chain and fuel retailer. Under the agreement, FuelQuest Fuel Center, the company’s outsourced fuel management service, will assume all fuel sourcing, replenishment, and financial reconciliation activities for Mr. Cartender’s unbranded truck stop and convenience store locations in South Texas. The growing petroleum retailer will utilize FuelQuest to decrease its overall fuel costs and optimize its procurement and inventory management operations.

“In a competitive retail fuel market, it is critical I get the lowest cost fuel available and that it arrives when I need it at each of my stores,” says Jimmy Neutze, owner of Mr. Cartender. “FuelQuest Fuel Center gives me access to the technology, people, and processes that allow me to achieve both goals with its strategic sourcing and just-in-time replenishment capabilities. This translates into better fuel margins and a more competitive offering at the pump.”

With its team of fuel experts and industry-leading Fuel Management System (FMS) software, Fuel Center forecasts and sources fuel acting as a supplier-independent extension of the unbranded customer. Fuel Center assumes other critical fuel management activities including order management and fuel, freight, and tax charge reconciliation. These capabilities allow Fuel Center to provide its customers the following benefits:

  •     Reduced fuel costs by 4 to 6 cents per gallon,
  •     Centralized control and predictability of fuel budget,
  •     Increased security of supply,
  •     Lowered administrative burden and improved invoice reconciliation, and
  •     Access to fuel market expertise using best-in-class technology.

Fuel Center’s growing list of retail fuel customers includes such companies as the Exchange, Lucky Deuces, Palace Truck Stop & Casino, and United Supermarkets.

“We are excited to have Mr. Cartender adopt our outsourced fuel management service and join other small- to mid-sized retailers looking for a competitive edge in their markets,” says Ryan Mossman, vice president and general manager for Fuel Center. “With Fuel Center, unbranded fuel retailers gain the buying and inventory management expertise that the big chains have. More efficient fuel operations mean greater opportunities to increase traffic at the pump and in the store.”
