Certiport (http://www.certiport.com) today launched the first offering in a new portfolio for HP’s ExpertONE learning and certification solutions, the HP Accredited Technical Associate (ATA) certification program. The HP ATA is being introduced as part of the new HP Institute academic program announced last week.
HP ATA is the industry’s first academic IT architect-level certification. Certiport has been working with HP to design, develop and deliver the HP ATA certification program in the academic community to validate technology teaching efficacy and student performance using industry-standard technologies. The HP ATA certifications are available as part of the preview program today and the full certification portfolio will launch in Q1 of 2012.

The HP ATA certification is designed to go beyond simple concepts or product knowledge by focusing on the application of knowledge and skills needed for today’s technology environments. The HP ATA program prepares students for immediate employment as it teaches and assesses their ability to design, implement and administer end-to-end and cloud IT solutions based on HP Converged Infrastructure technology.
“Business leaders look to technology for a strategic advantage, and they need skilled IT professionals with experience to keep pace,” said Ray Kelly, CEO, Certiport. “The new HP ATA certification program, delivered through Certiport’s strong global network of learning partners and educational market growth opportunities, will help educators effectively teach IT skills while providing students with credentials that validate the expertise to implement business solutions in small and medium-sized environments.”
For institutions seeking relevant curriculum to help ensure students acquire the skills valued in today’s workplace, certification plays a critical role in bridging classroom learning to real-world application. The HP ATA certification program directly applies to a broad range of IT job roles, such as IT Architects, System Engineers, System Administrators and Technical Support Engineers.
“Organizations are faced with an IT skills gap – they lack professionals with the technology and business skills required for complex projects,” said Susan Underhill, vice president, Global Certification and Learning, HP. “Combining HP’s technology expertise with Certiport’s experience and presence in the academic community enables the development of IT professionals with the skills they need to be successful.”
The HP ATA preview program includes three certification exams: Designing and Deploying Connected Device Solutions, Designing and Deploying Network Solutions, and Designing and Deploying Server & Storage Solutions. When the full program launches it will also include a Designing and Deploying Cloud Solutions certification exam, along with a complete certification pathway including courseware and lesson plans, practice tests and a remote lab for gaining practical, hands-on experience.
The HP ATA program will be distributed exclusively through the Certiport partner and testing center network. For a sneak peak at this new certification program, teachers and schools can register for the HP ATA preview program at: http://www.certiport.com/hp.
