Allied Van Lines and agent system dedicate efforts to help fight hunger

Allied Van Lines Announces Largest Partnership with Move For Hunger Of Its Kind To Date

Allied Van Lines, Inc., one of the world’s largest moving companies and a subsidiary of SIRVA, Inc., is proud to announce its Epic Level corporate partnership with Move For Hunger, a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting hunger through partnerships with moving companies. The partnership was first announced at the 2011 Allied National Convention, held October 3-6, 2011 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and is the largest partnership of its kind to date.

Move For Hunger works with moving companies across the country to pick up unwanted, unopened/non-perishable food from those who are relocating and deliver it to local food banks across the country. To achieve its Epic Level partnership status, Allied Van Lines raised a generous cash donation of more than $40,000 at its national convention through its corporate resources and participating network agents.

“We realize offering this complimentary service is an incredible chance for Allied to help our customers as well as ensure food that would be thrown away gets into the hands of those in need,” said Bill Lyon, general manager of Allied Van Lines. We are extremely proud that Allied Van Lines has become the largest partner of Move For Hunger, and hope our involvement will encourage all moving companies to offer this simple service and help eradicate hunger.”

Allied Van Lines has a growing list of agents participating in the Move For Hunger program and will plan to integrate efforts through local food drives and its corporate service centers to collect food year round. For more information, visit http://www.allied.com/moveforhunger.
