Connecticut Multicultural Health Partnership holds its Semi-Annual Meeting for Stakeholders in Health Disparities on Thursday, December 8th, 2011

The Connecticut Multicultural Health Partnership (http://www.ctmhp.org), a collaboration of more than 150 organizations and 300 individuals who are dedicated to eliminating health disparities and promoting health equity for all, holds its semi-annual meeting on Thursday, December 8th, from 11:30am to 3:00pm ET at The Pond House Café 1555 Asylum Avenue in West Hartford, CT. The Theme is: “Strengthening the CT Multicultural Health Partnership through an Informed and Active Membership.”

Participants will be given an update of current health reform initiatives and the opportunities these initiatives present for achieving health equity in Connecticut. Special guests will include Deputy Commissioner Lisa Davis from the Department of Public Health, who will provide opening remarks.

“A key objective of the meeting is to inform the Partnership’s membership and other interested members of the community of changes on the horizon for the health care system. Together, we will identify opportunities to assure that these changes work toward the reduction and, ultimately, the elimination of health disparities in all its forms,” said Brad Plebani, chair of the Partnership.

“We are a Partnership because we work in concert toward achieving these goals -- and the more we know about the health care environment, the better able we will be to achieve our mutual goals,” continued Plebani.

Those encouraged to attend the conference include health and human services providers, researchers and policy makers, administrators, advocates, and public health professionals.

This meeting is free and open to the public, however pre-registration is required. The event is expected to draw over 100 leaders from public health, state, and local, organizations.
