With the construction of our two sites in Weld County, in addition to many other sites across the country, Mansfield is helping customers evaluate and implement a CNG solution as a realistic option to meet their fueling needs.
Gainesville, GA (PRWEB) December 07, 2011
Mansfield Gas Equipment Systems Inc. announced today that they have been awarded contracts to design, construct, maintain and operate two new compressed natural gas stations in Weld County, Colorado. Both projects will be public-private partnerships to design and build turnkey CNG stations at existing retail fueling locations. The first site, owned by Firestone Convenience, LLC, is located in the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) Weld County boundary and the second, owned by Agland Incorporated, is located in the North Front Range Metropolitan Planning Region (NFR MPO). These projects are being partially funded by Congestion, Mitigation, and Air Quality (CMAQ) grant monies through the North Front Range MPO and DRCOG along with matching funds from Mansfield, Anadarko, Noble Energy, and Encana - all local Natural Gas Coalition partners within the Oil & Gas Industry.
Mansfield will own and operate both Weld County sites which will be open to the public 24 hours a day. Each location will offer dual hose fast fill dispensers to provide fueling for light, medium and heavy duty CNG vehicles. The stations will also include a Mansfield Fuel Management System (FMS) that will record and process all transactions and provide a receipt to public consumers as well as reporting capabilities for private/government sector customers. The FMS will accept standard credit cards such as Visa®, Mastercard® and American Express® as well as fleet cards such as Voyager, Wright Express, and Fleetcor.
Larry Ozier, President of Mansfield Gas Equipment Systems, said, “Infrastructure has been the greatest challenge to overcome in adopting CNG as a transportation fuel. With the construction of our two sites in Weld County, in addition to many other sites across the country, we’re helping customers evaluate and implement a CNG solution as a realistic option to meet their fueling needs.”
CNG-fueled vehicles produce far fewer emissions than gasoline and diesel-fueled vehicles, including 90-97% less carbon monoxide, 87% fewer volatile organic compounds, a 35-60% reduction in nitrogen oxides, and 30% less carbon dioxide. Use of CNG as a transportation fuel also helps advance U.S. energy independence, since 70% of the oil our nation imports is used for transportation.
Weld County Commissioner Barbara Kirkmeyer commented, “Weld County is committed to implementing energy projects that support our Smart Energy Plan. Building two stations that include a public-private offering gives our local businesses and residents the opportunity to consider natural gas vehicles as a viable option for transportation. Mansfield Gas Equipment Systems provided a comprehensive, cost-effective proposal that demonstrates their expertise in the industry and their ability to customize a project to meet a customer’s needs.”
Mansfield’s first Weld County site in Firestone, CO is expected to open in April 2012 with the Greeley, CO site opening anticipated in June 2012.
