Arnold Schwarzenegger. Tiger Woods. Anthony Weiner. All of these men who were once known for their successful careers are now associated with scandals surrounding their infidelity to their wives. Although people are familiar with these high profile stories of adultery, it is an unfortunate situation that can find its way into any couple’s marriage. In his new novel Cumberland County: A Bite of the Apple (published by AuthorHouse), author and former senior VP of the Home Shopping Network, Edward Vaughn tells the story of an otherwise moral and ethical man’s surrender to the temptation to engage in marital infidelity.

Cumberland County tells the story of Mike, a man who rose from an abused childhood, to marry a nearly perfect woman, have beautiful children and enjoy a successful career as a clergyman. But Mike takes a bite of the apple of adultery and nearly loses everything.

An Excerpt from the book:

“Mike’s previously strong resistance to the many temptations thrown at him in the past by other women suddenly melted away, and he found himself spontaneously yielding to Amanda’s seduction. In a matter of minutes, they were passionately rolling around together on the carpet in front of the altar.”

A fast-moving story based on a true story, Cumberland County gets to the root causes that drive some men to cheat on their wives. Vaughn hopes readers will find insights to help them avoid the same missteps that have destroyed so many other relationships.
