Highlighting the truly malleable nature of open source software, jBilling, along with partner Bull Telecom & Media, have successfully integrated jBilling’s open source billing software into the existing and self-developed OSS/BSS of Alsatis, a French internet service provider.
The project, completed within budget, and in just four months, rose from a need for a scalable billing solution. Alsatis Manager of Information Systems Djéry Sidibé commented on the company’s unique needs, “We developed an entire OSS/BSS, but there was still a lack into a main function: the billing module. We needed to have a more standardized billing process, a more standardized billing software.”
Enter jBilling open source billing software to meet the technological needs, and their partner, Bull, to meet the project management needs. Bull, also headquartered in France, offered the perfect collaborative solution: Bull and Alsatis were able to work in a shared language, even in a shared time zone.
Over the course of the project, the collaborative efforts of Alsatis and Bull were able to fully integrate the Alsatis systems with the existing jBilling platform, utilizing web services and Alsatis defined forms. Using jBilling API, Alsatis now has a fully developed system for customer and subscription management, using their in-house built user interface. The new system has effectively solved Alsatis’s billing needs, and provided the company with unlimited scalability, and the potential for limitless growth.
“We have much appreciated the relationship with the jBilling staff in terms of creativity and their ability to customize the products for our needs. The product is flexible, and it’s very easily implemented and integrated,” said Cédric Carel of Bull Telecom & Media. The open source platform of jBilling and the ingenuity of all three companies’ teams has succeeded in creating a robust, scalable billing solution that is flexible, powerful, and most importantly, fully integrated into the existing Alsatis platform.
