Visitors to Europe’s largest online restaurant booking service, Bookatable, surged by a third on Tuesday following the Masterchef episode.
Masterchef has long provided inspiration to amateur cooks looking to get more adventurous with their food. But during the latest show, MasterChef: The Professionals, viewers felt like having the hard work done for them, and logged on in record numbers to book a table online at a top fine dining restaurant.
Visitors to Europe’s largest online restaurant booking service, Bookatable, surged by a third (33%) on Tuesday compared to a normal evening, during the show and in the hour that followed the Masterchef episode at 8pm.
The most popular search from the 10,000 extra visitors that flooded the site was for ‘L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon’, the double-Michelin star restaurant that the skilful semi -finalists visited to put their culinary tricks into action.
“We’re all inspired by our favourite TV shows, and to see these masters at work in the kitchen gives us all an exciting glimpse of what happens behind the scenes,” comments Celia Pronto, Vice President Marketing for Bookatable. “What might surprise people is what great value you can get on this kind of Michelin-starred cuisine when booking online: lunch with wine at L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon can cost as little as £32 per head.”
In tonight’s final, the contestants will head to Pied a Terre in Charlotte Street in London. Diners might want to get in early and book before it airs, to bag one of what will likely become the hottest tables in town.
