Verizon Wireless retailer raises funds to grant wishes for children in need.

Granting wishes provides the child an opportunity to focus on something other than his or her treatment, to create a better mental outlook and a sense of true hope and joy.

Cellular Sales, the nation’s largest Verizon premium wireless retailer, recently announced a project to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. A percentage of sales from 4G phones and Mi-Fi wireless hotspot devices will be donated to the charity to support its mission of granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions in the U.S.

“Cellular Sales is happy to support the efforts of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® through the collection of funds this holiday season,” said Rick Alberg, regional director for Cellular Sales of Virginia. “Every 40 minutes a child’s wish is granted by the organization and we are more than happy to contribute funds that will help to grant one of those wishes.”

For each sale of 4G phones and Mi-Fi wireless hotspot devices, $10 will be donated to the charity, up to a goal of $8,000. Cellular Sales will work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation® to match the funds raised with a deserving child to grant his or her wish.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® is a non-profit organization that began in 1980 when a group of individuals wanted to fulfill the wish of a young boy with cancer, to become a police officer. Since its inception, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has granted the wishes of more than 250,000 terminally-ill children nationwide.

Cellular Sales was founded in Knoxville, Tenn. 18 years ago and has, for the past four years, been named by Inc. Magazine one of the nation’s fasted growing privately-owned retailers. In 2011, Cellular Sales ranked among the nation’s 75 fastest growing retailers in the Inc. 5000.
The company currently operates nearly 500 stores across the U.S.

According to Karen Webb, president and CEO of the Greater Virginia Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, the wireless retailer’s donation will help the non-profit to fulfill its mission to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

“When a child is diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition, it’s almost as if he or she ceases to be a child,” she said. “Granting wishes provides the child an opportunity to focus on something other than his or her treatment, to create a better mental outlook and a sense of true hope and joy.”
