Alexandra Wilcox Winner of Rookie of the Year 2011 at the Tutor Doctor Annual "Making a Difference" Awards Banquet

I am deeply honored to accept the Rookie of the Year Award. Imagine a room full of people whose driving concern is to make a difference. We are not just making a difference; we are changing people's lives.

The 3rd Annual Tutor Doctor “Making A Difference” Awards today named Alexandra Wilcox, Orange County, California Franchisee, Rookie of the Year for 2011.

Alexandra ("Ali") Wilcox has been an advocate of education for almost two decades. She was granted her B.A. in English Literature from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. After college, the pull toward higher education was simply too strong for Ali to resist. She received her J.D. from Chapman University School of Law where she served as the editor-in-chief of the Chapman Law Review and Vice President of the Appellate Moot Court Board.

After practicing law as a Civil Litigation attorney for almost a decade, Ali sought a role where she could consistently make a difference in people’s lives. As a result, she accepted a role as a Professor with Westwood College in Anaheim and decided to become a student again - this time pursuing her Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Creative Writing from the University of California at Riverside.

While at Westwood College, Ali served in various several leadership roles and was eventually promoted to the position of Assistant Academic Dean where she advised students and helped to create the first Academic Success Center. Shortly thereafter, it became clear to Ali that she could have the greatest impact on her community if she could help people identify and fill "knowledge gaps" so that they can overcome roadblocks to success. Shortly thereafter, Ali opened a Tutor Doctor Franchise with her husband, Brian. They serve Coastal families in Orange County from San Clemente to Huntington Beach and inland families through Foothill Ranch.

Ali Wilcox was honored at the annual global Tutor Doctor Conference at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas on Friday, December 2, 2011.
