Saint Leo’s academic programs are designed to accommodate the military’s unique educational needs.
Saint Leo, Florida (PRWEB) December 09, 2011
G.I. Jobs magazine has included Saint Leo University—one of the nation's 10 leading providers of higher education to the U.S. military—in its 2012 list of military-friendly colleges. The list represents the 15 percent of U.S. colleges that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students.
A publication of Pittsburgh-based Victory Media, G.I. Jobs compiles the annual list through exhaustive research and polling of more than 7,000 schools nationwide. Methodology, criteria and weighting for the list are developed with the assistance of an Academic Advisory Board (AAB). G.I. Jobs created the guide to help military personnel narrow down their education options following passage of the Post-9/11 GI Bill, which guarantees tuition assistance to veterans.
G.I. Jobs' military-friendly colleges list praises Saint Leo for offering financial benefits, flexible programs and counseling support to military students and veterans. Standout benefits include:
· Scholarships and tuition discounts for military students, veterans, and dependents
· Yellow Ribbon program tuition reimbursement
· Flexible evening programs, weekend programs and classroom-based programs on military bases
· Full-time veteran counselors on staff to help with career placement
· Virtual and on-campus clubs for veterans and their spouses
"Saint Leo is committed to supporting the men and women who serve our country," says Kathryn McFarland, Vice President of Enrollment and Online Programs at Saint Leo University. "Military students often face extraordinary demands, with the threat of deployment or transfer at any given moment. Saint Leo’s academic programs are designed to accommodate the military’s unique educational needs."
