Opus Energy, the Oxford and Northampton based power provider, has raised the sum of £20,034 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The energy company’s staff presented the check to the Trust in their Northampton office on Monday 12th December at 11.30am.
Opus Energy employees Cara Kelly, Luke Spencer and Jamie Cooper who each undertook fundraising activities for the company, awarded the Cystic Fibrosis Trust a cheque for £20,034.
Cara Kelly, Opus Energy’s Credit Co-ordinator, completed a 10-day trek in the Peruvian Andes during November 2011. She managed to raise the sum of £1,713 from the trek for the trust. Ten members of the Opus Sales team, including Luke Spencer, competed in The Run Northamptonshire during October 2011. The team managed to raise another £1,270 from the run, which Opus Energy doubled. During August Opus Energy organised their first charity golf tournament. Jamie Cooper was on the winning golf team, which managed to raise a further £220 for the Trust.
Charlie Crossley Cooke, Managing Director, Opus Energy, stated: “We have chosen to support the Cystic Fibrosis Trust because the charity is one that is close to our hearts. One of our colleagues has a son who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis, and we wanted to do our best to support them and help others with the recessive genetic disease. We are thrilled to have raised a grand total of £20,034 for the charity. It’s an astonishing accomplishment, which has been collected by some of our most adventurous staff.
He also commented, “This is a great way to finish the year, and a real benchmark for the company’s fundraising efforts during 2012. We will continue to support the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and we are pledging that our staff can raise another £10,000 for the charity which Opus will then match – giving a great cause another £20,000.”
