LED Lighting Company Focuses on Customer Experience In the Midst of Building New Website

EnvironmentalLights.com recently won two Interactive Media Awards (IMA) for its e-commerce site. The company, which sells a variety of energy-efficient LED lighting products, won the title "Best in Class" in both the Energy category and Natural Environment/Green category. The IMA is an extension of the non-profit organization of web professionals known as the Interactive Media Council.

The EnvironmentalLights.com website was recently updated by Lightmaker in July 2011. They built a site that effectively manages current business but allows the company to grow with its rapidly expanding market and customer base. To best achieve this, Lightmaker focused on two main areas: User Experience and Order Management. To enhance the user experience on EnvironmentalLights.com, they created all-new product page layouts with enhanced image serving via Adobe Scene 7 and video posting via YouTube. They also enhanced the user shopping experience with the ability to easily add products to a shopping list or cart, which appears along the bottom of the screen as the user shops. Product pages also feature custom documentation for installation and best practices, such as their newest guide, entitled "Questions to Ask When Purchasing a LED Light Bulb."

On the back end, Lightmaker enhanced the order management system for processing customer requests. This has allowed Environmental Lights to efficiently manage and distribute orders throughout the world from their headquarters office and warehouse in San Diego and satellite warehouses in the United States.

The Interactive Media Awards honors individuals and organizations who display exceptional work in the design, development, management and promotion of websites. The Best in Class Award is the highest honor given in each category. It is based on a number of criteria - design, content, feature functionality, usability and standards compliance and cross-browser compatibility.

Judging is done on a points-based scoring system. Each entry can receive a maximum of 500 points, and in order to be named the Best in Class, a website must have a perfect or near-perfect score in all of these areas - the total score must be between 480 and 500 points to qualify.

Environmental Lights was one of 93 submissions in the category of Natural Environment/Green category for the 2011 year. For this category, Environmental Lights received a 94 for design, 93 for content, 100 for feature functionality, 99 for usability and 94 for standards compliance and cross-browser compatibility, for a total score of 480.

For the Energy category, they were one of 70 entries for 2011. They received an overall score of 489, receiving 98 for design, 98 for content, 99 for feature functionality, 99 for usability and 95 for standards compliance and cross-browser compatibility.
