Cutting-edge app from West Shore Technologies streamlines how coaches assess players and opponents

West Shore Technologies today announced the release of Volleyball Scout, an iPad application designed to streamline the arduous tasks of evaluating volleyball players. Volleyball Scout gives coaches the tools to measure each player’s performance via dozens of metric attributes and enables coaches to capture text notes, voice memos, profile pictures, photos and video.

Volleyball is no stranger to cutting edge technology. So it stands to reason that the first sport to embrace wireless system for live statistics and digital video systems would embrace a revolutionary analytics-based scouting assessment technology.

"Volleyball Scout is limitless in its data collection and analytical capabilities for assessing players and opponents, managing tryouts and doing performance evaluations,” said Coach Michelle Brazil, who recently won her third consecutive California state volleyball title at Marin County’s Branson School.
With Volleyball Scout, a coach can evaluate an outside hitter, for example, on 40 skills that include all aspects of that position—setting, blocking, defense, serving, physical and cognitive skills. If coaches want to compile important attributes about a potential recruit, a few clicks is all it takes to grade footwork, overhead passing and accuracy.

“You can even add custom fields to the App to address your own specific metrics that go beyond industry-standard,” Brazil said. “Volleyball Scout will revolutionize how today's coaches who want to make data-driven decisions can collect the data needed to make those decisions."

"Coaches must maintain every competitive advantage possible, and one way to do that is to incorporate analytics into their evaluation criteria," states Gregg Jacobs, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of West Shore Technologies, Inc. “Volleyball Scout enables them to capture the data necessary to apply an analytics engine to it and develop the best rolling 3-year scouting/recruiting strategy."

Coaches can rate the players on a +/neutral/- or 1-5 basis for any of the metrics during or after an assessment event. Volleyball Scout automatically syncs the data to West Shore Technologies’ secure server on the internet where the coaches can login to review and analyze data for decision-making purposes.
