"In short, we suggest a business continue to treat customers with respect during the holiday season and renew their efforts to be diplomatic with those clients,” states Jeff DiMatteo, a partner at American Profit Recovery.

American Profit Recovery, a collection agency with offices in Massachusetts, Michigan and North Carolina focuses on resolving debt diplomatically at all times of the year and advises businesses to make sure that during the holidays, extra care is taken to resolve debt issues respectfully.
During the holidays, consumers may take their eye off the ball and may not take care of certain financial obligations. For a whole host of reasons including holiday obligations, economic conditions and others, consumers can fall behind at this very busy time of the year. American Profit Recovery has a number of very important things to remember about collecting on overdue bills during the holidays:
Diplomacy: Communicating with consumers in a diplomatic manner will only help to secure payments when they fall behind. Being too forceful or demanding payment in an unfriendly way, especially during the holiday season can create an adversarial environment and cause that customer not to pay or delay even further.
Be Firm: A business can be diplomatic and firm at the same time. While making sure a cordial tone is used in collecting overdue invoices, a firm and friendly voice should be used as well. Ask the customer to make payment as they are already obligated to do and remind them of that responsibility.
Communication: Always continue to communicate with the customer and ask that customer to do the same. If the customer is having trouble making payment, ask them to consider a payment plan and ask them to stick to that plan. If they continue to have trouble, ask them to keep you informed of that.
“In short, we suggest a business continue to treat customers with respect during the holiday season and renew their efforts to be diplomatic with those clients,” states Jeff DiMatteo, a partner at American Profit Recovery. “We understand fully the demands on people during the holiday season but meeting our financial obligations regardless of the time of the year is something we all must do.”
