With tuition rates increasing and the economy still struggling, we felt increasing the dollar amount of each scholarship would be more meaningful to those in need of financial assistance.

Helping struggling students or anyone interested in continuing their education or going back to school, DegreeSearch.org, an online degree search company, this week announced changes to its Success By Degrees scholarship program. Launched last April, the program has helped over 30 individuals pay for college. Until now, recipients gained entries by interacting with DegreeSearch within social networking platforms Facebook and Twitter, with $500 being paid out weekly to random entrants.
In an effort to build momentum and make the scholarship even more meaningful to its recipients, DegreeSearch has revamped the process and increased the prize amounts of the scholarship. Effective December 12th, the scholarship platform is switching from a weekly sweepstakes to a monthly contest by which three cash scholarships will be awarded: two in the amount of $1,000 and one in the amount of $500, totaling $2,500 each month.
“$500 was a nice amount of money for someone to win, but with tuition rates increasing and the economy still struggling, we felt increasing the dollar amount of each scholarship would be more meaningful to those in need of financial assistance during these difficult times,” said Jacob Stein, Promotions Director at DegreeSearch.org.
Stein continued, “Not only has our program benefited some well-deserving scholarship winners, the program has also aided DegreeSearch by broadening our reach within social networks, ultimately helping connect more students with the right schools for their needs.”
In addition to offering larger scholarship amounts, DegreeSearch has added more ways to enter by evolving the program into a contest format where suitors can earn points by completing different tasks either on DegreeSearch.org, Facebook, Twitter or on YouTube.
“The Success By Degrees scholarship is all about helping students in need. If we can do that and make the process fun at the same time, then we’re accomplishing what we’ve set out to do,” said Stein.
