S. Hart Williford, chief executive officer of Ingenious Med, has been named to the board of directors of strategicplanningMD, the company announced today. Williford, with more than 30 years experience as an executive in software, revenue management, medical services, sales, and digital media, will provide additional expertise that will assist strategicplanningMD in the rapid user adoption of its strategic planning software suite.

"Hart has a long track record of innovation and successfully managing and growing companies," said Scott Regan, founder and chief executive officer of strategicplanningMD. "He brings to the board what every management team looks for -- demonstrated success in leading companies from start-up through rapid growth and maturation. He will be a tremendous advisor to our executive team, as well as for our programs and systems."

Hart joined Ingenious Med in 2008 as chief executive officer. Since then, the company has more than tripled in revenues, employees, and resources. His experience extends worldwide as a previous leader of Digital Equipment Corporation’s Far East operations, headquartered in Hong Kong.

Prior to joining Ingenious Med, Williford held several other senior executive-level positions at leading companies, including IBM, AT&T, VeriSign, NCR, Kirchman Corporation, and Morris Technology. Williford also has significant experience leading software and service companies. In May 1999 he joined H.O. Systems, where he served as president until the company was acquired by VeriSign in February 2002. While at VeriSign, he continued to oversee the company’s operations as General Manager and Senior Vice President of Wireless Services. During this five-year period, the company became known for excellent service and its revenues grew sevenfold.

“As the conditions affecting healthcare organizations in the United States have become more trying and turbulent, strategic planning becomes critical for success,” Williford said. “Unfortunately, during these times of duress, most organizations typically do less long-term planning and try to succeed through better implementation. This seldom works, so I am excited to be a part of the strategicplanningMD team, which has the solutions and services needed by healthcare systems to survive and thrive during these trying times.”

In addition to H.O. Systems, Williford has led four additional software solution companies through periods of rapid expansion and profitable growth. In his most recent position, Williford served on the Board of Directors of Memorial Health in Savannah, GA, where he eventually was named the organization's senior vice president and led such high-priority initiatives such as the growth of its cancer services division.
