On December 1, 2011, R2integrated was awarded the 2011 Philanthroville Do-Gooder of the Year award. The award, sponsored by the United Way of King County (UWKC) was presented at the TechFlash Newsmaker “Flashie” awards. TechFlash is a leading technology news site based in Seattle; once a year they hold an event to review the past year’s biggest headlines in technology news.

Inspired by a message delivered this past spring by Bill Gates to leaders of rising companies around Puget Sound, UWKC and TechFlash sponsored a company giving and community service contest that ran from March to November of this year. Much like the goal of The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the focus of the contest centered on local business partners dedicated to bringing innovations to society. UWKC also strives to provide essential resources and support through their goodwill efforts, to strengthen the surrounding community.

Well-known regional companies competed against each other to collect the highest number of points in "Philanthroville." Points were awarded for volunteering, charitable giving and spreading awareness of UWKC through social media channels. Participation was open to any company in King County, Washington without a United Way-facilitated workplace giving campaign. By the end of the nine-month competition, a number of companies made a significant impact for the community, along with r2i who received the “Do Gooder” award.

“The tech community in Seattle strives to give back on a consistent basis, and r2i was happy to step-up to the challenge and work hand-in-hand with our peers to provide innovative solutions for our community,” says Jody Stoehr, EVP for r2i’s west region, who accepted the award at the Flashies.

In an effort to help promote online social chatter and storytelling about the event, r2i offered their R2iSMASH™ technology before, during and after the event. This was their first Flashie.

Matt Goddard, r2i CEO, echoed Stoehr’s sentiments. “Charitable giving at all levels has always been part of Seattle’s culture,” he says. “It’s wonderful to see the ‘do-good’ spirit of the community and we were honored to be a part of such a wonderful philanthropic cause.”
