Aljoya Mercer Island is the 2011 Mercer Island Business of the Year. On Thursday, December 1, the Mercer Island Chamber of Commerce recognized Aljoya Mercer Island for its ongoing commitment to community service and support of local business by honoring Aljoya with the 2011 Business of the Year Award.
The Mercer Island Chamber of Commerce board of directors selected Aljoya Mercer Island because its residents and staff demonstrate a significant and ongoing commitment to the community that includes:
1. Aljoya brings new people to Mercer Island’s downtown business district, proactively supporting local businesses
2. Aljoya demonstrates an ongoing commitment serving others through its programs such as the Mercer Island Youth and Family Services (MIYFS) annual back pack and school supplies donations
3. Aljoya provides complimentary meeting and show space for local non-profits like the LIONS and Mercer Island Visual Arts League (MIVAL) with gallery showings that are open to the public
Aljoya Mercer Island opened in 2008. Staff and residents alike consider themselves an integral part of Mercer Island’s vibrancy.

To be recognized by the community at large for this is just a huge thrill.”
