It’s a medical fact that our pets make us feel happier,” says Marrs. “I can’t think of a better way to care for people than caring for their pets. I want to give the the best possible quality of life to both.

There weren’t any classes on how to build a booming pet care service when Stacey Marrs was a student at UNC-Chapel Hill. But she did spend some time in investment banking before deciding to invest in her own small business. When she put her business smarts together with her passion for animals she struck pure gold.

Just three years ago, Marrs rolled out the red carpets to pets in and around the Charlotte area, opening Queen City Pet Sitting in South Charlotte. And clients – both of the furry variety and their owners – are howling with praise for the quality and variety of services offered, which features in-home pet care. Business has been so good that Stacey recently seized the opportunity to secure a second location in Raleigh called Raleighwood Pet Sitting. Again, Stacey found clients ready and waiting for the kind of services offered. Busy families and energetic pets never had it so good.

“It’s a medical fact that our pets make us feel happier,” says Stacey. “I can’t think of a better way to care for people than caring for their pets. I want to give the best possible quality of life to both.”

While the number of in-home pet sitting services is on the rise, Stacey and her team have managed to read their clientele to the point that there’s a service offered for virtually any situation that might arise in a day in the life of a pet owner – family emergencies; home relocations; working late at the office; help with an overactive puppy. These are the realities of thousands of pet owners who need someone dependable to step in and care for their pets. If you ask, they’ll water your plants, turn the blinds, roll out the garbage – even do light sweeping or vacuuming as needed. Who says good help is hard to find?

“Stacey, the owner, and her coworkers are so accommodating to my pets' needs,” writes one of the many growing number of customers at Raleighwood Pet Sitting. “When my husband and I went out of town for a week, Raleighwood watched our pets, providing them with food, water, companionship and plenty of exercise.”

Opening the new business can also be credited with creating new part-time jobs. Currently Marrs reports employing 30 pet sitters at the Raleigh location and 40 more in the original Charlotte location.

While business is certainly one of Stacey’s strengths, overseeing the details of daily pet pampering is a close second. Meeting the needs of every household member is a priority for Stacey. To customers with special pet-related needs, Stacey says, “Just ask.” Marrs continues, “You might be surprised by the many ways we are willing to serve our many and varied customers.”

A third pet sitting venture is planned for Summer 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia. Information for that new location will soon be available at
