We are delighted to be recognized by Gartner as a provider in the public cloud Infrastructure as a Service space, said Dante Orsini, VP Business Development at iland.

iland™ Internet Solutions, the global cloud infrastructure provider and VMware Service Provider Partner of the Year for Americas today announced that it has been named to Gartner‘s 2011 Public Cloud Infrastructure as a Service Magic Quadrant. Gartner extensively researched the industry to publish this report which is the first iteration for this market. The report, which lists 20 service providers, their strengths and cautions, was published on December 8, 2011 and is written by Gartner analysts Lydia Leong and Ted Chamberlain.

“We are delighted to be recognized by Gartner as a provider in the public cloud Infrastructure as a Service space” commented Dante Orsini, VP Business Development at iland. “As a VMware partner we build on vCloud technologies to create products and services that provide our customers with more cost effective and efficient ways of doing business. Our experience and track record in offering vCloud powered services to the enterprise has earned us the reputation for pushing boundaries and delivering on our promises to customers – we believe our strategy aligns well with our niche position in the quadrant. We look forward to the coming year and the opportunities to expand our service offerings, cloud locations and grow both our partner and customer bases.”

iland provides solutions for mission critical production systems, development and testing, data replication and business continuity to a true VMware-based cloud environment. The company’s recent integration with VMware vCenter™ Site Recovery Manager provides a cost effective, automated disaster recovery solution that makes it easier for organizations to protect their most critical assets. For organizations with stringent regulatory issues or SaaS providers with stringent Service Level Agreements, this integrated disaster recovery solution gives a customer complete control to ensure reliable and rapid failover.

In the 2011 report, Gartner analysts, Lydia Leong and Ted Chamberlin analyzed public cloud IaaS providers according to what they see as the fastest growing use cases – companies that want a datacenter in the cloud but want to keep control of it. As the report states, “It [The Magic Quadrant] is focused on the needs of customers whose primary need is self-service cloud IaaS, although it may be supplemented by a small amount of colocation or dedicated servers.“ iland provides its customers with those options.

The Gartner Magic Quadrant is widely recognized as one of the most influential benchmarks for enterprises seeking to evaluate public cloud Infrastructure as a Service. It evaluates vendors according to completeness of vision – including product strategy, adopted business model, innovation, and market understanding – as well as marketing strategy, sales strategy and geographic strategy among other criteria.
