Hollywood Cycles, local bike shop and racing team, is sponsoring their second cyclocross bicycle race benefiting Toys for Tots on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Vanderbie Park in Bloomington, MN.

With the holiday’s approaching, Hollywood Cycles in Bloomington is sponsoring the Cross For Tots cyclocross race to benefit Toys for Tots at Vanderbie Park in Bloomington, MN. The event promises to be a fun way to challenge racers of all levels and help local children in need.

Cyclocross racing originated in Europe for road racers to maintain their physical conditioning during the off-season. Traditionally conducted in the autumn and winter, the races typically feature grass, steep hills and obstacles often requiring racers to dismount and run with their bicycles. The sport is gaining popularity in the United States and the Twin Cities. Local events typically have over 150 racers challenging each other and enduring the elements

The Cross 4 Tots course at Vanderbie Park promises to be fast, with a traditional run up and barriers to test the racers endurance and ability. The weather and unpredictable course conditions will add to the challenge and fun of this late season race.

The cost of entry for the race is a new, unwrapped toy, which will be donated to Twin Cities Toys for Tots. In lieu of a toy, racers are asked to contribute a $20 donation to Toys for Tots. Vanderbie Park is located at 1001, West 92nd Street, Bloomington, MN.

There will be three races to accommodate all levels of riders.
