“SCS is pleased to expand our certifications to include Tesco NURTURE for clients in North America and Central America who are selling their produce to the Tesco supermarket chain,” said Heena Patel, Director of Food & Agriculture Auditing Services at SCS. “Tesco has been a steadfast leader in tackling the issue of food safety.”
The NURTURE scheme is designed to confirm the health and safety practices of Tesco suppliers, an important protection role that an increasing number retailers and suppliers are adopting to ensure adherence to sound food safety practices. In addition, Tesco works in partnership with the Ethical Trading Institute (ETI) to ensure that its suppliers are assessed annually for compliance with ethical standards and worker welfare requirements.
