International fashion photographer Ash Gupta of 838 Media Group, along with Pam Loar of LA Models, and designer Maggie Barry, pushed the boundaries of fashion in a live mega-shoot. This editorial featured 11 curvy, plus-sized models to remind everyone of a time when voluptuous was not only the norm but also considered beautiful.

This shoot, “Théâtre de la Beauté Classique,” evoked the grandiose style of Bertolt Brecht’s Three Penny Opera while weaving the style forms of burlesque and cabaret throughout.
Although Europe has begun embracing plus-size models as mainstream symbols of beauty, Los Angeles had not yet hosted such an involved production shoot featuring models above size 0 to 6.

LA Models recently launched a specialized plus size division LAM2 PLUS+. To celebrate this new division, Ash Gupta conceptualized this shoot at West Hollywood’s Voyeur Nightclub which, coincidentally, stands at the same spot where Marilyn Monroe (famous for her curves) performed her first burlesque. The shoot required a crew of 40 and featured the roster of LA Models' LAM2 PLUS+ . Equipment was provided courtesy of Samy’s Camera and catering by Gate of India - Hollywood.

LA Models (http://www.lamodels.com) and 838 Media Group (http://www.838mediagroup.com) are proud to have brought this retro concept of beauty and fashion to Los Angeles.
