Michigan Instruments, a Grand Rapids, Michigan-based designer and manufacturer of specialized medical equipment, appointed Joe Baldwin president on May 9, 2011. Baldwin, who has worked at Michigan Instruments for 20 years, began his career in assembly, working his way up to positions such as engineer, general manager and vice president.

“I don’t feel any different coming to work today than I did 20 years ago,” says Baldwin. “President was never a position I expected to fill, but I’m honored that Michigan Instruments sees me as the best man for the job, and I look forward to leading the company.”

As president, Baldwin’s goals include offering new products and services that fit within the company’s business structure, creating innovative additions to current product lines and growing market share within the mechanical CPR and training and test lung industries.

By Nov. 1, 2015, Baldwin also expects the company’s size to increase by 150 percent as a result of its new approach to product distribution and increased digital marketing efforts. Several new and innovative product lines are also expected to be in production by the end of 2014.

Baldwin believes that Michigan Instruments has a wealth of untapped potential and plans to continue to build its reputation as the premier manufacturer of mechanical CPR devices and training and test lungs. “We have a great future ahead of us,” says Baldwin. “And while I may be leading the company, our future success will be determined by how well we work together as a team to achieve our goals.”
