e-Builder announced today that the Kodiak Island Borough has selected e-Builder’s capital program and construction management software to help the Engineering and Facilities Department centralize project information, standardize business processes, and facilitate the management of project changes to mitigate against potential cost overruns and schedule delays. Project stakeholders will leverage e-Builder’s Cost, Schedule, Processes, Forms, Documents, Reports, Dashboards, and Project Calendar. These will help Kodiak Island Borough capitalize on available resources during planning, design, and construction of new capital projects, as well as renovation of existing facilities. The combination of standard processes, central information access, improved collaboration, and visibility across the entire capital program will give the Borough tighter control over project cost and schedule.
Prior to selecting e-Builder, the KIB used Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, email, MS Project and other manual methods to manage capital project data. These did not provide enough accurate and up-to-date project information to help stakeholders make informed decisions. Also, the use of spreadsheets created a lot of data redundancy and duplicate entry. e-Builder will provide project managers, executives, and consultants access to centralized project information that will also provide a communications hub for all project stakeholders.
e-Builder’s budget and cost reporting capabilities will provide financial control and audit features to manage budgets across one project and/or KIB’s entire capital program. In addition, e-Builder will help the Engineering and Facilities team generate real time cost forecasting data that will take into account pending and projected budget and commitment changes. The cost control capabilities will also enable a more efficient approval process for routing budget, invoice and change order review and approvals to minimize project delays. Project managers will have immediate visibility into all of the open change orders and RFIs that have potential cost impacts before they are approved. This will provide management with foresight that will help mitigate risks while reducing costs.
Jonathan Antevy, e-Builder CEO, said “this is another great example of a forward-looking organization proactively finding ways to make construction faster, less expensive, and more reliable to free up time, funds and energy for other priorities”.
