I look forward to volunteering as a bell ringer every year. Not only do we bring joy to the shoppers coming into the store; we are also able to help so many families during the holiday season.
Sterling, VA (PRWEB) December 17, 2011
RE/MAX Select Properties, a Northern Virginia Real Estate Company, prides itself on giving back year-round. The company took over the traditional red kettle bell on Friday at the annual Salvation Army Bell Ringing at Dulles Town Center in Sterling, VA, a familiar act that generates millions of dollars each year to aid needy families, seniors and the homeless.
RE/MAX Select Properties Agent Jim Hartung stated, “I look forward to volunteering as a bell ringer every year. Not only do we bring joy to the shoppers coming into the store, we are also able to help so many families during the holiday season.”
Friday marked the office’s fourth year participating in the bell ringing. Following last year’s event, RE/MAX Select Properties was recognized for their efforts and received an award from the Salvation Army in Loudoun County for “Doing the Most Good.” Several local RE/MAX affiliates from the office were in attendance this year, including Broker/Owner Phyllis Stakem, agents Jim Hartung, Karen Ricciardi, Ray Mauk, Scarlet Lovell, Ramona Rember, Paul Orphanides, Tim Melia, Melissa MacKimm and Laura Walsh.
Broker/Co-Owner Phyllis Stakem said, “Re/Max Select Properties not only rings the bell to collect much needed money that the Salvation Army uses this time of year to help those in need, but we also bring a smile to many faces. In the past we have been known to ring the bell and sing Christmas Carols and engage those going in and out of the Mall. It is our privilege to help the Salvation Army for another year!"
The red kettle, a tradition started over 100 years ago by Salvation Army Captain Joseph McFee, is an integral part of the Christmas scene, with millions of dollars donated each year to aid needy families, seniors, and the homeless, in keeping with the spirit of the season. Donations provide Christmas dinners, clothing, and toys for families in need. Financial assistance also helps with basic necessities, along with seasonal aid.
