Physicians should order as soon as possible. The deadline is fast approaching, and we know orders will start to flood in as physicians scramble to find a trustworthy and fast distributor.

A new mandate requiring use of Georgia Board of Pharmacy approved prescription paper in the state of Georgia, described in O.C.G.A. 26-4-80.1, goes into full effect beginning January 1, 2012. Lucas Distribution, the leading Atlanta-based distributor of office equipment security hardware, now is ready to ship approved paper to healthcare providers in need. In order to fully comply with the new law, physicians need to place orders before the January 1st deadline.

When asked about the new law, Managing Partner of Lucas Distribution, Gary Lucas, says, “Physicians should order as soon as possible. The deadline is fast approaching, and we know orders will start to flood in as physicians scramble to find a trustworthy and fast distributor. We’re trying to get the message out to physicians before they face the January 1st deadline.”

The new law became effective October 1, 2011, but until December 31, 2011, healthcare providers can write schedule II prescriptions using older paper if they note that the prescription is for emergency use. Beginning January 1, 2012, all schedule II prescriptions must be written on approved paper.

Lucas issued the following statement on December 14: “The emergency exception rule allowing schedule II prescriptions to be written on non-approved prescription paper will expire December 31, 2011. Doctors should plan ahead and order approved paper and pads now to ensure they can continue to write prescriptions on January 1, 2012.”

To meet the needs of valued customers in the medical industry, Lucas Distribution, LLC is now providing tamper resistant laser prescription paper as well as custom-printed pads, approved by the Georgia Board of Pharmacy.
