Deck The Halls This Friday Night With The Winner of the “America’s Got Talent” Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr
From washing cars to Hollywood stars, it's been quite a year for West Virginia native Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. The winner of NBC TV's "America's Got Talent" competition by the biggest margin in the show's history has gone from car detailer to holding the #1 slot on the charts and a sold out Christmas concert tour across his native West Virginia. This Friday night, Murphy brings the special holiday show, complete with an 18 piece big band and surprise special guests, to The Harv at Mountaineer Casino in Chester, WV.
Tickets are on sale now, and start at just $10.00, a fact that's important to Murphy who has insisted that his show tickets stay reasonably priced for all his fans, a nod to his difficult past which included a period of homelessness and jobs washing dishes, cars and working on a road crew before his million dollar win on national television.
As part of the America's Got Talent prize, Landau realized a lifelong dream and headlined a show in Las Vegas at the legendary Caesars Palace. His new CD "That's Life" was released by Columbia Records/Sony Music, home of Tony Bennett, Harry Connick Jr and many more. The Sony exec overseeing his CD production helped launch the career of Celine Dion among others, and the album was produced by Steve Tyrell, who scored a Grammy for his work with Rod Stewart on his "Great American Songbook" CD.
Murphy is off to a strong start since the album debuted November 21st, hitting #1 on the Jazz chart and landing in the Top 40 overall, and his recent TV and radio appearances have included visits to The Today Show, The Wendy Williams Show, Sirius/XM, The View, The Talk, The Hollywood Christmas parade, NPR's All Things Considered, The Tom Joyner show and more.
This sudden rise to fame has been in keeping with Landau’s roller-coaster ride of a life. As a young man, he was once reduced to sleeping in his car; he worked at a car wash during the months leading up to his TV performances—and was down to his last pair of pants and jacket when he arrived to sing in the AGT auditions at Radio City Music Hall.
