Arrow Electronics has joined eight other major authorized electronic component distributors in sponsoring ECIAauthorized.com, the component inventory search site launched in 2011 by the Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA). The inventories of more than 40 ECIA member distributors can be searched on the site.

Arrow recognized the significance and potential impact of this important initiative for our industry.

Arrow Electronics, one of the world's largest authorized electronic component distributors, is a sponsor of the all-authorized inventory search site, http://www.ECIAauthorized.com. The site is operated by the Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA) and the first of its kind to be industry-owned and managed.

Arrow Electronics is a global provider of products, services and solutions to industrial and commercial users of electronic components and enterprise computing solutions, with 2010 sales of $18.7 billion. Headquartered in Englewood, Colo., Arrow serves as a supply channel partner for over 1,200 suppliers and 115,000 original equipment manufacturers, contract manufacturers and commercial customers through a global network of more than 340 locations in 52 countries and territories.

ECIA, a leading organization dedicated to supporting the expanding needs and interests of the authorized electronics supply chain, recently launched the non-profit website ECIAauthorized.com in response to the growing problem of counterfeit parts. This unique site provides the fastest and most complete authorized electronics inventory search available. It is a key component of the ECIA’s efforts to fight the flow of counterfeit parts, providing customers with a secure location to find authorized products. The site “only lists inventory that is genuine and backed by the manufacturer’s warranty,” said ECIA President Robin Gray. “Right now, customers can search inventory from 39 authorized distributors - and that number is growing.”

"Arrow recognized the significance and potential impact of this important initiative for our industry," said Jim Ricciardelli, vice president of eCommerce strategy for Arrow Electronics. "We're pleased to provide customers access to Arrow's expansive authorized electronics inventory through the ECIA search website."

Arrow’s authorized component categories include passives, interconnects, discretes, electromechanical, analog, ASIC, controllers, logic, imaging; lighting solutions, memory, optoelectronics peripherals, processors and development tools. All can be searched on http://www.ECIAauthorized.com.

Search results on http://www.ECIAauthorized.com are displayed at random, based on search match and availability. This is a major difference from some search sites, which are influenced by advertising expenditures or sponsorships.

While inventory searches will be handled on the association Web site, sales will be completed through each distributor’s private site. Arrow Electronics orders will be placed through http://www.arrow.com. This is another benefit to users in that it eliminates the possibility of purchase data being captured and shared by unauthorized third parties.
