Annual Award, to be Presented January 25, 2012, Will Benefit Charitable or Philanthropic Organizations While Honoring CalSouthern Students and Alumni for Distinguished Scholarship, Innovation, or Service

California Southern University will announce the recipient of the inaugural CalSouthern Difference Award at a ceremony at the university’s Irvine campus on January 25, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. The award will be presented annually to a CalSouthern student or alumnus who makes a difference in his or her area of practice, field of study, or local community through distinguished scholarship, innovation, or service.

The CalSouthern Difference Award will be accompanied by a $2,500 donation to be made by the university—in the recipient’s name—to a charitable or philanthropic organization of the recipient’s choosing.

“Our selection committee has identified the recipient of the inaugural CalSouthern Difference Award, and we’re very much looking forward to presenting the winner with the award at the ceremony on January 25,” says University President Dr. Caroll Ryan. “Our first award recipient perfectly embodies the ideals upon which the CalSouthern Difference Award was founded, and is a source of inspiration to the entire university. It will be an honor to share our winner’s contributions to the community and accomplishments with the public, and to celebrate these achievements with the entire CalSouthern family.”

The ceremony will be attended by CalSouthern students, alumni, faculty, and staff, as well as members of the print and electronic media. The award presentation will be preceded by a light luncheon. Those members of the media interested in obtaining press credentials are invited to contact Michele Bianchi at (800) 477-2254, ext. 4260.
